U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Executive Vice President President, Center for Advanced Technology & Innovation
Washington, DC
David C. Chavern is executive vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and president of the Center for Advanced Technology & Innovation (CATI). Under Chavern’s leadership, the Chamber launched CATI in 2014 to expand engagement with high-tech industries on policy development, regulatory issues, and international opportunities and challenges and to represent the interests of technology companies. Through advocacy, research, events, and partnerships, CATI seeks to unleash entrepreneurship and technology development in high-tech centers across the nation.

Before taking the helm of CATI, Chavern served as chief operating officer of the Chamber for more than seven years. During his tenure, total revenues increased more than 60%. Chavern also chaired the Chamber’s Management Committee during times of record-breaking activity and unprecedented challenges for the organization.

The Chamber has routinely called on Chavern to lead and develop innovative programs. He launched the Chamber’s manufacturing competitiveness initiative, highlighting opportunities to drive growth and advancement in the sector and advocating for policies to support America’s manufacturing rebound. Chavern was founder and president of the Center for Women in Business, a program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, with the objective of raising opportunities for women at all levels of business. He also founded and served as vice president of the Chamber’s Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness, where he quickly became one of the nation’s leading voices on corporate governance and on the effective regulation of U.S. capital markets.
